Bajaur: District administration launched a crackdown against overpricing in Nawagai Bazaar, sealing four butcher shops and taking two butchers into custody.
Acting on the directives of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Deputy Commissioner Bajaur Shahid Ali Khan, along with the Assistant and Additional Assistant Commissioners of Nawagai Sub-Division, directed Tehsildar Nawagai Alam Zeb to carry out the operation. According to officials, strict action was taken on the spot after violations of the officially notified price list were confirmed.
Authorities stated that legal action against those involved in overpricing will continue without discrimination, emphasizing that no one will be allowed to exploit the public.
During the operation, officials also inspected the prices, availability of official rate lists, and quality of other food items in Nawagai Bazaar, which were found to be largely satisfactory. The complaint desk established in the market was also reviewed.
Additionally, in coordination with TMA Nawagai, an anti-encroachment drive was conducted. Encroachments along both sides of the road and footpaths were removed to facilitate smoother movement for the public.
Meanwhile, following complaints regarding a shortage of clean drinking water in Nawagai Colony, TMA staff ensured the supply of water to families residing in government quarters. The administration reiterated that efforts to control prices and provide public facilities will continue.
