PESHAWAR: Under the auspices of the District Administration and District Sports Office Mohmand, a vibrant and colorful cultural festival was organized for the first time in District Mohmand, with collaboration of Regional Sports Office Peshawar.

The primary objective of the event was to promote the region’s local culture and literature.The two-day poetry competition featured prominent and emerging poets from across the district, who captivated the audience with their eloquent poetry. The poetry focused on themes rooted in local language, traditions and cultural values, shedding light on important social dimensions.

Local poets, while expressing their views, appreciated the initiative, stating that it is the first time such literary and cultural gatherings have been held under official patronage.They termed it a positive step that would not only help the younger generation reconnect with their language and literature but also strengthen the region’s cultural identity.

Prior to the poetry competition, a Kabaddi tournament was organized with the support of the Regional Sports Office, featuring participation from local players. The tournament aimed to revive traditional sports and was well-received by the public.

These constructive activities spanning sports and literature have contributed significantly to the cultural revitalization of District Mohmand.The enthusiastic public participation and institutional interest clearly indicate that cultural activities in the tribal districts are gaining new momentum.

Speaking on the occasion, the District Sports Officer Mohmand stated that efforts are underway to promote sports and cultural engagements in the district, with the aim of encouraging youth participation in positive activities and preserving local traditions.

The public welcomed these initiatives and expressed hope for the continued organization of such events.The festivals not only provided a platform for local talent to shine but also offered healthy entertainment opportunities for the community. The three-day poetry competition and Kabaddi tournament in District Mohmand are part of the government’s broader efforts to safeguard and promote cultural heritage.These activities are not only nurturing the region’s rich traditions but also providing a sustainable avenue for the youth to connect with their identity.
