TANK: Deputy Commissioner Tank Tanveer Ahmad Khattak has completed a major public welfare initiative by improving water supply through a solar-powered system and establishing a recreational park for residents.
According to official sources, development work in Tank had previously stalled due to law and order concerns, prompting the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) to halt its operations. However, the Deputy Commissioner played a pivotal role in restoring confidence by providing guarantees, convincing the organization to resume its initiatives in the area.
As part of the renewed efforts, two large water tanks powered by a solar system have been installed at the old city tank site with the support of UNOPS. The project has significantly improved water supply across the city, benefiting residents from Tanki to Durand Gate through a bazar-based distribution network.
Local residents have welcomed the initiative on social media, saying that the long-standing issue of water shortage has largely been resolved. They appreciated the efforts of the district administration for prioritizing public welfare.
In addition to the water supply scheme, a small but well-designed park has also been constructed at the same location. The park is now being used daily by children and families from nearby areas, providing much-needed recreational space and contributing to a healthier environment.
Public circles have termed the project a major milestone in the development of Tank, expressing hope that such initiatives will continue to enhance civic amenities in the district.
