PESHAWAR: Ms. Nadia Bibi, Member of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa National Commission on the Rights of Children (NCRC), held a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, Capt. (Rtd.) Sanaullah Khan, to review measures for the welfare of displaced families from Tirah, with a focus on children’s education, health, and the prevention of child labour.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted that the district administration maintains comprehensive records of displaced families, many of whom are currently staying with relatives. He noted that schools in Tirah are closed for winter vacation but assured that, if government policy allows, displaced children can be enrolled in Peshawar schools in coordination with the Education Department.
The discussion emphasized interdepartmental coordination to safeguard the rights, education, and overall well-being of displaced children, ensuring that they are protected from abuse and exploitation.
Agencies including the Government of Pakistan and UNICEF Pakistan participated in the planning and coordination efforts.
