PESHAWAR: The Directorate General of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa organized a vibrant Sports Gala for the transgender community at Peshawar Sports Complex, with over 100 transgender individuals and persons of short stature actively participating in various competitions.

The Transgender Sports Festival featured cricket, futsal, musical chairs, sack race, tug of war, archery, eating competition, cone race, and 50-meter races. The Farzana Group secured overall first position, while the Arzoo Group finished second.

Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Muhammad Asif Khan attended as chief guest. Director General Sports Tashfeen Haider, Director Merged Districts Umar Arshad, Director Operations Jamshed Baloch, Assistant Director Shah Faisal, and other officials were also present.

Addressing the media at the opening ceremony, Muhammad Asif Khan stated that the objective of organizing sports activities for the transgender community was to reaffirm that they are an integral part of society and have the fundamental right to equal participation in sports and recreational activities. He announced that the Transgender Sports Gala would now be held annually to ensure consistent and inclusive sporting opportunities.

He further highlighted that sports activities across the province are being carried out extensively in the new year, with enhanced facilities for youth development. Referring to the Pakistan Super League, he said that Imran Khan Cricket Stadium is fully prepared to host PSL matches and expressed optimism that fixtures would be held there this year.

According to the final results, the Arzoo team won the futsal final, with the Farzana team as runners-up. In the sack race, Ajwa secured first position, Zoni second, and Nayab Gul third. Muskan won the eating competition. In the cone race, Shai Koko claimed first position, Muskan second, and Nauman third. Shaista Gul won the musical chairs event.

In archery, Maya secured first position, while Kashi finished second. Zardad Bulbul won the tug of war competition.

In the 50-meter race for transgender participants, Mona won the gold medal, Malaika secured silver, and Ajwa claimed bronze. In the race for persons of short stature, Luqman won gold, Usman secured silver, and Noor took the bronze medal.
