District Police Jhelum demonstrated remarkable performance during the year 2025 under the command of District Police Officer Tariq Aziz Sandhu, ensuring law and order and taking decisive action against criminal elements across the district.
Throughout 2025, Jhelum Police remained actively engaged day and night in tracing serious crimes including murder, theft, robbery and dacoity, arresting accused persons, eradicating drug-related crimes, and dismantling criminal networks. The police focused on community policing, prompt provision of justice, protection of life and property, and maintaining overall security in the district.
To ensure peace and stability, daily search operations were conducted across Jhelum. During the year, a total of 41 murder cases were registered, leading to the arrest of 71 accused. In 127 robbery (rehbari) cases, 182 accused were apprehended. Two dacoity cases resulted in the arrest of eight accused, while two dacoity-cum-murder cases led to the arrest of three accused persons.
Jhelum Police also took strict action against crimes involving women and children. Twenty-eight cases of sexual assault involving women and children were registered, with 32 accused arrested. In cases involving underage girls, seven cases were registered and five accused were arrested. Additionally, 36 rape cases resulted in 43 arrests, while 24 gang rape cases led to the arrest of 48 accused.
During 2025, Jhelum Police arrested a total of 957 proclaimed offenders, including 199 Category-A, 509 Category-B proclaimed offenders, and 239 court absconders. In crimes against property, 138 criminal gangs were traced and 371 accused were arrested, with recovery of stolen property worth Rs 889,82,190.
A comprehensive crackdown against narcotics resulted in the registration of 549 drug-related cases, with 566 accused arrested. Recoveries included 210 kg 685 grams of charas, 81 kg 749 grams of heroin, 1 kg 200 grams of opium, and 10,118 bottles of liquor.
Action against illegal weapons led to 373 cases, with 383 accused arrested and recovery of 329 pistols, 93 Kalashnikovs/guns, and 2,863 rounds of ammunition. In anti-kite flying operations, 35 cases were registered, 35 accused arrested, and 1,078 kites along with 52 spools of string were recovered.
During the year, 32,689 citizens benefited from services provided at police service centers. For traffic law violations, 83,567 challans were issued, imposing fines amounting to Rs 783,46,350, while 48,314 driving licenses were issued. At the Police Training School, 1,106 trainees received professional training.
Furthermore, through the complaint cell, the District Police Officer personally heard 2,711 public complaints during 2025 and issued necessary orders for their redressal, reaffirming Jhelum Police’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and public service.
