The Executive Body of Dir Officers Welfare Association (DOWA) held its meeting at the Paraplegic Center, Hayatabad, Peshawar, under the chairmanship of President Dr. Syed Muhammad Ilyas.
During the session, EB members were briefed on recent DOWA activities and took key decisions. It was pointed out that since the current 3 years tenure of the DOWA Cabinet and Executive Body concludes at the end of 2025, the Annual General Body Meeting and elections for the new Cabinet and Executive Body will be held on January 18, 2026. Prof. Dr. Aziz-ud-Din was appointed as Election Commissioner for the purpose.
A Mushaira featuring six prominent poets from Dir will be organized during the General Body Meeting. Prof. Dr. Abasyn Yousafzai will serve as focal person for poet selection while Dr. Muhammad Irfan will arrange accommodation. Reception arrangements will be led by Dr. Khalid Rahman. Engr. Aziz Bacha will design the official invitation cards.
For the upcoming Ramazan package drive, DOWA resolved to collect and distribute approximately Rs 4 million as aid to widows in both districts of Dir.
A targeted membership drive will also be launched with every Executive Body member personally inviting officers from Dir currently serving in Peshawar to join the Association. A follow-up Executive Body meeting is scheduled for December 14, 2025.
