MARDAN: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Department of Ushr and Zakat has distributed dowry fund cheques amounting to Rs.41 million among 205 deserving individuals in District Mardan.
A special ceremony was held at the District Zakat Office, where Chairman of the District Zakat Committee, Malik Jahanzeb, handed over the cheques to the beneficiaries.
In his address, Malik Jahanzeb stated that the distribution was carried out transparently, with one deserving family selected from each village council. He added that each girl is now receiving Rs. 200,000 in assistance, a significant increase from the previous amount of just Rs. 20,000. The purpose of the dowry fund is to support poor families in marrying off their daughters, he added.
