PESHAWAR : The Peshawar High Court team, which achieved outstanding success in Pakistan’s first-ever Dragon Boat Festival held on the Kabul River, received the trophy and medals from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi. A ceremony to honor the participating players was held at the Governor House in Peshawar, with the governor as the chief guest.
During the ceremony, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi presented the trophy and medal to Peshawar High Court team captain Syed Nauman-ud-Din, Advocate High Court, in recognition of the team’s outstanding performance. The Charsadda team was declared joint winner, with Pir Junaid receiving the shield on its behalf. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police team secured second position, while the Sports Writers Association team finished third.
China Window organizer Amjad Aziz Malik congratulated the winning team and all participating players, saying that sports play an important role in promoting discipline, teamwork and self-confidence among young people and in helping them become productive members of society. He stressed the need to provide youth with opportunities to participate in positive and healthy activities.
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi appreciated the efforts of Amjad Aziz Malik and said that promoting sports and other positive activities among young people was essential for building a healthy society. He emphasized the importance of providing greater opportunities for youth to develop their abilities through sports.
During the ceremony, China Window also awarded a scholarship to student Hamza Ali to pursue education in China. The scholarship was described as a commendable initiative for securing a brighter future for young people and strengthening educational ties between Pakistan and China.
The ceremony concluded with a commitment to continue providing young people with opportunities through sports, education and cultural activities. The Dragon Boat Festival and the ceremony honoring the players marked a positive step toward promoting sports, encouraging youth and further strengthening the bonds of Pakistan-China friendship.
