Report by Anwar Zada Gulyar
Bajaur — District Emir of
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam and former Senator, Maulana Abdul Rasheed, flanked by Tehsil Nazim Haji Syedee Badshah and other party leaders, addressed a press conference demanding that the ongoing operation in Mamond be called off within three days and that the displaced families be sent back to their homes with dignity and respect.
He said that serious irregularities had been reported in the distribution of food and other relief items, and urged the provincial government to take immediate notice, launch an inquiry, and hold those responsible accountable.
Maulana Abdul Rasheed further stated that not only government schools but also local houses and hujras were sheltering hundreds of displaced persons, yet the district administration had unjustly excluded them from official lists.
He added that the operation had led to the closure of educational institutions, casting a shadow over students’ future, while commercial activities had come to a complete standstill.
He also alleged that the commitments made to the Bajaur peace jirga were being violated. Maulana Abdul Rasheed warned that if the operation was not halted and the displaced were not repatriated within three days, the party would announce its future course of action after national-level consultations.
