PESHAWAR: A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Secretary Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Khalid Ilyas, to deliberate on matters related to Capital Value Tax (CVT) and proposed improvements in amendments concerning the Personalized Registration Mark (PRM) system.
The meeting was convened in light of the vision of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi and the directives of Provincial Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Syed Fakhar Jahan.Director General Excise Abdul Halim Khan along with other senior officials of the department attended.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on various proposals aimed at making the Capital Value Tax and Personalized Registration Mark systems more transparent, efficient, and citizen-friendly.Emphasis was placed on aligning the tax system with modern requirements to facilitate citizens while also enhancing government revenue.
Addressing the meeting, Secretary Excise Khalid Ilyas stated that, in line with the vision of the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the reform process within the Excise Department is ongoing to ensure good governance, transparency, and public facilitation.
He said that the proposed amendments related to CVT and PRM primarily aim to make the system simple, transparent and easily accessible to the public.
Director General Excise Abdul Halim Khan, while briefing the participants, said that the department is taking practical steps to provide improved services to citizens through modern technology and digital systems. He added that the proposed reforms will not only increase government revenue but will also ensure faster and more convenient services for the public.
The meeting also agreed that all measures will be taken keeping public interest in view to promote ease, transparency and trust in the tax system. Officials stated that the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa aims to establish a system that provides maximum facilities to citizens in minimum time.
According to the relevant authorities, the final recommendations regarding the proposed amendments will be compiled and forwarded to the concerned forums so that necessary actions can be taken at the earliest.
