LAHORE: Renowned Pakistani shooter and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz recipient Mohsin Nawaz has dedicated his prestigious national award to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Patron-in-Chief of the Pakistan Long Range Rifle Association (PLRA), while highlighting the importance of institutional support in the promotion and development of shooting sports in Pakistan.

Speaking on the growth of shooting sports, Mohsin Nawaz said that the support of state institutions and the government has helped provide athletes with opportunities to compete internationally and represent Pakistan with pride. He particularly acknowledged the role of the Cabinet Division and the Pakistan Sports Board in bringing shooting sports into the mainstream sporting framework of the country.

Nawaz praised Field Marshal Asim Munir for facilitating the development of shooting sports infrastructure and support systems. He noted that with official recognition from the Pakistan Sports Board and government backing, Pakistani shooters now have an internationally recognized platform to participate in global competitions under Pakistan’s flag.

He termed the establishment of the Pakistan Long Range Rifle Association (PLRA) and its affiliation with the International Confederation of Fullbore Rifle Associations (ICFRA) as major milestones that have opened new opportunities for Pakistani shooters at the international level.

A winner of 10 individual international medals, Mohsin Nawaz said Pakistan possesses immense talent in shooting sports and can compete with the world’s best through continued institutional support, strategic planning, and investment in athlete development.

He also stressed the importance of collaboration with institutions such as the Pakistan Army and expressed his commitment to mentoring young shooters and helping build a strong future for the sport in the country.

Reflecting on receiving the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, Nawaz described the award as a symbol of responsibility, dedication, and service. He expressed confidence that with sustained support from the government, the Pakistan Sports Board, and Field Marshal Asim Munir, Pakistan can emerge as a strong force in international shooting sports in the years ahead.
