UPPER DIR : Two weeks long first Javed Akhtar Advocate (late) Memorial Volleyball Tournament in Chukyatan, concluded with a colorful ceremony. In a thrilling final, Sahib Abad team defeated Bibiyawar Serai to win the trophy, while Bibiyawar Serai finished as runner-up.
MPA Muhammad Anwar Khan Advocate was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. Other attendees included Jahangir Jan Advocate, Jamil-ur-Rehman, Hakimullah alias Osama, Ikramullah Advocate, PTI leaders, local elders, and District Sports Officer Siddiqullah.
Speakers incuding MPA Muhammad Anwar Khan paid rich tribute to the social and political services of the late Javed Akhtar Advocate. Participants said Javed Akhtar always rendered valuable services for the welfare of Chukyatan’s people. He was a sincere, friendly, and noble person whose memories will always remain alive.
MPA Muhammad Anwar Khan said Javed Akhtar was his longtime political companion and his absence will always be felt in the area’s politics and society. He announced he would raise his voice on every forum for approval of a modern sports ground for Chukyatan’s youth, a higher secondary school for girls, and other development projects.
District Sports Officer Siddiqullah said, “The late Javed Akhtar was a great supporter of sports promotion. This tournament in his memory is the start of a commendable tradition. My department pledges that next year a larger, better volleyball tournament will be organized at Upper Dir district level in Javed Akhtar’s name. We will try to make this event part of the provincial calendar so Dir’s youth get a bigger platform to showcase their talent. The department will extend all possible support for promoting sports activities in Chukyatan.” Jahangir Shah Advocate also lauded the deceased’s services to the legal fraternity and the area.
