Peshawar: The first phase of the Inter-District Under-16 Games in the merged districts, organized by the Directorate of Sports, will kick off today, November 25, and continue until December 1. This was stated by Raziullah Bettani, Director Sports for the merged districts, while speaking to the media.
He said that in line with the vision of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, and on the special instructions of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi, the Inter-District Games are being organized under the leadership of Advisor to the Prime Minister on Sports and Youth Affairs Taj Muhammad Tarand, Secretary Sports Saadat Hassan, and DG Sports Tashfeen Haider. The theme of the event has been set as “From the Tribal Areas to the Sports Field.”
The schedule for the first phase has been finalized. Competitions in cricket, football, volleyball, hockey, and basketball will take place as follows:
•Bajaur & Mohmand: November 25
•Khyber: November 26
•Orakzai: November 27
•Kurram: November 28
•North Waziristan: November 30
•South Waziristan Upper: December 1
A total of 1,368 players from seven districts and 18 sub-divisions will participate in this phase.
The second phase will commence in the third week of December, featuring teams from eight districts and six FR sub-divisions, competing in cricket, football, hockey, volleyball, and basketball.
In the final round, prize money will be awarded as follows:
•Winning teams: Rs 100,000
•Runners-up: Rs 70,000
•Volleyball & basketball winning teams: Rs 70,000
•Runners-up in volleyball & basketball: Rs 50,000
Raziullah added that monitoring committees have been established.
•In Mohmand and Bajaur, the committee includes Deputy Director Amir Zahid Shah, Assistant Director Irfanullah, and District Sports Officers.
•In Khyber, Orakzai, and Kurram, Deputy Director Zakir Khan, Assistant Director Qaiser Munir, and District Sports Officers will supervise.
•In North Waziristan, South Waziristan Lower, and South Waziristan Upper, monitoring will be carried out by Assistant Director Rahad Gul, Budget Officer Muhammad Shafiq, and respective District Sports Officers.
He further stated that all participating players will be provided with sports equipment and refreshment expenses.
