Peshawar: On the special directives of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, it has been decided to undertake comprehensive restoration, beautification, revival of historical status, and provision of modern facilities at the historic Islamia College Peshawar, including its old hostels and adjoining heritage buildings. The initiative aims to preserve the institution’s national heritage while further enhancing the academic and residential environment for students.

In this regard, Commissioner Peshawar Division Riaz Khan Mehsud, along with Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Captain (R) Sanaullah, engineers of the Peshawar Uplift Program, Director PDA, and other concerned officials, conducted a detailed visit to Islamia College. During the visit, the Vice Chancellor of Islamia College gave a comprehensive briefing on the historical importance of the institution, its architectural heritage, and the current condition of its buildings.

The Commissioner Peshawar Division directed that restoration and renovation work should be carried out strictly in accordance with the original architectural design and historical character of the buildings, ensuring that no damage is caused to the heritage value of the institution. He emphasized that high-quality materials and expert conservation techniques must be used, and that all work should be completed within the stipulated timeframe.

He further stated that Islamia College Peshawar is a symbol of educational excellence and cultural heritage, and its preservation is a collective responsibility. The project will not only safeguard the historical identity of the college but will also provide improved facilities for students, faculty, and staff.

Officials concerned were instructed to ensure close coordination among all departments, maintain transparency in implementation, and submit regular progress reports to the relevant authorities.
