DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Former Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sardar Ali Amin Gandapur, paid a detailed visit to District Central Jail Dera Ismail Khan, where he inaugurated Buildings No. 3 and 4 by cutting the ribbon. The newly constructed blocks, built at a cost of several crores of rupees, aim to provide improved facilities for prisoners.
Upon his arrival, he was warmly received by Superintendent Jail Ijaz Mehsud, DIG Jails Dera Range Tahir Shahbaz, and Deputy Jails Zafarullah Marwat. Member National Assembly from Tank, Dawar Khan Gandapur, was also present on the occasion.
During the visit, Sardar Ali Amin Gandapur inspected various sections of the jail, met prisoners, and listened to their problems and complaints firsthand. He reviewed the quality of food in the jail kitchen, cleanliness arrangements, availability of medicines in the jail hospital, and the condition of patients under treatment. He expressed satisfaction over the overall arrangements and appreciated the performance of the jail administration.
Speaking on the occasion, the former Chief Minister said that prisoners are an integral part of society and it is the responsibility of the government to provide them with reform opportunities, welfare, and basic human facilities. He said the newly constructed buildings would enhance the jail’s capacity and ensure better residential, medical and other essential facilities for inmates.
He directed the Communication and Works (C&W) Department to complete the remaining construction work on an emergency basis and hand over the buildings to the jail administration at the earliest. He also ordered the immediate provision of medicines worth Rs. 5 lakh for the jail hospital, along with repair of the damaged tube well to ensure uninterrupted water supply.
Furthermore, Sardar Ali Amin Gandapur announced the immediate construction of the dilapidated road in front of the Central Jail, stating that improvement of the entrance and surrounding roads would facilitate both the jail administration and the general public.
Concluding the visit, he reaffirmed his commitment to continuing practical steps for jail reforms and the welfare and betterment of prisoners in the future.
