Dera Ismail Khan: Newly appointed Regional Police Officer (RPO) Dera, Ghulam Mubashir Mekan, formally assumed charge of his office and immediately initiated a series of visits to review policing performance and security arrangements in the region. His appointment was notified by Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed.

Soon after taking charge, the RPO visited Ejaz Shaheed Police Lines, where he was presented a guard of honor by a smartly turned-out police contingent. He laid floral wreaths at the martyrs’ memorial and offered prayers for the departed souls of police martyrs and for lasting peace in the country.

During the visit, the RPO conducted a detailed inspection of key facilities, including the anti-drone system, command and control center, mess, barracks, MT section, canteen, barber shop, gym, and security posts. He directed the DSP Headquarters to ensure improved living conditions, quality food, and overall welfare of police personnel. He also ordered that all security posts be equipped with functional wireless sets, night vision devices, and thermal systems on rifles.

Later, the RPO visited Cantt Police Station, where he reviewed the building infrastructure, security arrangements, investigation wing, online FIR system, and overall crime management. He also met detainees in the lock-up and listened directly to the complaints of citizens visiting the police station.

Issuing on-the-spot directives to the SP City, he emphasized that providing timely justice and treating the public with dignity and respect are fundamental responsibilities of the police.

The RPO stated that Dera Ismail Khan is a sensitive region where maintaining sustainable peace, eliminating terrorism, ensuring public safety, and upholding the rule of law remain top priorities. He added that boosting police morale, adopting modern policing techniques, promoting intelligence-based operations, strengthening community policing, and ensuring welfare of the force will be key components of his strategy.
