TOPI,Swabi : Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIK Institute) has welcomed a distinguished group of Bangladeshi students who have joined the Institute for undergraduate studies under prestigious scholarship opportunities designed to advance academic cooperation and educational exchange between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
A total of five Bangladeshi students has joined GIK Institute for the Fall 2026 intake. Significantly, one student secured GIK Institute’s top merit scholarship through outstanding performance in the GIK Undergraduate Admission Test 2026, while four students have joined under the Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarships for Bangladeshi Students, offered through the Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor (Phase II).
The Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarship Program is an important academic initiative that enables talented Bangladeshi students to pursue higher education at leading Pakistani universities.
Beyond providing access to quality education, the Program serves as a meaningful platform for strengthening intellectual engagement, cultural understanding, and enduring people-to-people relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
The students travelled from Bangladesh to Pakistan through arrangements facilitated by the Pakistan High Commission in Bangladesh and the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan. Upon arrival at Islamabad International Airport and later at GIK Institute, they were warmly received by the GIK Admissions Team, which facilitated their admission formalities and coordinated arrangements to ensure a smooth and welcoming transition to campus life.
The students were subsequently received by the Rector GIKI Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmad (Sitara e Imtiaz) and Pro-Rectors of GIK Institute, who interacted with them and conveyed their best wishes for a successful and intellectually rewarding academic journey. The Institute’s leadership underscored the importance of expanding educational collaboration between Pakistan and Bangladesh and welcomed the students as valued members of the GIK academic community.
