Dera Ismail Khan: Gomal Medical College officially inaugurated its three-day 4th Annual International Research Conference on Friday, bringing together medical experts, researchers, and delegates from across Pakistan and abroad. The opening day saw a large gathering of participants, including representatives from multiple medical institutions and specialists joining virtually via Zoom.

Dean of Gomal Medical College, Dr. Naseem Saba Mehsud, welcomed the guests and highlighted the importance of promoting medical research, fostering international collaboration, and integrating modern scientific developments into practical medical training. She emphasized that advancing contemporary medical research and transferring knowledge to new doctors is an urgent need. Dr. Mehsud stressed that research should not remain theoretical; it must be applied in clinical practice and shared with students through workshops, seminars, and interactive sessions to improve healthcare standards and strengthen the international recognition of Pakistani medical researchers.

Key speakers on the first day included Dr. Imran Khan from Khyber Teaching Hospital, Peshawar, who spoke on innovations in medical research and practice. Dr. Sadia Waheed from the United Kingdom highlighted global challenges in medical research and opportunities for Pakistani researchers. Dr. Mehboob Rehman of PIMS, Islamabad, discussed research methodology and modern approaches to medical data management. Dr. Saifur Rehman from Karachi addressed practical aspects of public health and community medicine research, while Dr. Rohina Gul from Lahore focused on innovations in medical education and training.

The event also witnessed the special presence of Board of Governors Chairman, Raza Ali Khan Gandapur, who appreciated the initiative and underscored the need for collaboration between governmental and private institutions to advance medical research in Pakistan.

The conference will continue over the next two days, featuring multiple sessions, research presentations, panel discussions, and in-depth exchanges on emerging trends in medical science. The event aims to provide a platform for experts from Pakistan and abroad, promote collaborative research, and disseminate new developments in the field of medicine to students, professionals, and healthcare institutions.
