PESHAWAR: Government College Peshawar clinched the General Trophy at the Inter-Degree Colleges Sports Festival, showcasing outstanding performance across multiple disciplines. The prize distribution ceremony was held at the Directorate of Sports, University of Peshawar.
Special Secretary Higher Education Department Sharif Hussain and former world champion Qamar Zaman graced the ceremony as chief guests. They were accompanied by President Sports Committee Dr. Sariruddin, Professor Dr. Shafiullah, Dr. Atiq Ullah, Dr. Abdul Rashid, Director Sports Bahre Karam, and other distinguished guests.
In football, Government Postgraduate College Landi Kotal secured first position, followed by Government College Peshawar in second place, while the Postgraduate Departments of the University of Peshawar claimed third.
Government College Peshawar dominated handball, finishing first, with Government Superior Science College Peshawar securing second and Government Degree College Mathra Peshawar taking third position.
In squash, Edwardes College Peshawar clinched first place, Government College Peshawar secured second, and Superior Science College finished third.
Government College Peshawar continued its impressive performance by winning titles in table tennis, throwball, volleyball, and athletics. In table tennis, Edwardes College Peshawar were runners-up, while Quaid-e-Azam College of Commerce Peshawar secured third position.
In athletics, Government College Peshawar claimed first place, followed by the Postgraduate Departments of the University of Peshawar, while Government Postgraduate College of Management Sciences Jamrud secured third position.
On the overall points table, Government College Peshawar topped with 37 points. Government Superior Science College Peshawar finished second with 13 points, while Edwardes College Peshawar secured third with eight points.
Government College Peshawar was awarded the General Trophy, while Muhammad Danial Shahid was declared the Best Athlete of the festival for his exceptional performance.
