Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi met a delegation of the Pakistan Directors, Producers, Writers and Artists Association (PWPWA), led by its Chairman Sajjad Ali Orakzai, at the Governor House Peshawar. The delegation also included renowned painter and sculptor Naveed Shabbir and Farah Javed, Lecturer at the Department of Art and Design, University of Peshawar.
During the meeting, Chairman Sajjad Ali Orakzai invited the Governor to attend an art exhibition scheduled for March 30 as the chief guest, an invitation he gladly accepted. On the occasion, the delegation highlighted challenges faced by artists in the province, including the lack of institutional patronage, and presented practical proposals for the promotion of arts.
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi assured the delegation that all possible support would be provided for the promotion of fine arts and the welfare of artists in the province. He also indicated that a detailed meeting would be held with the delegation after the event to formulate an actionable strategy based on the proposals presented.
It is worth mentioning that the Pakistan Directors, Producers, Writers and Artists Association (PWPWA) is an active and dynamic organization working in the fields of performing arts, music, literature, and visual arts in the province. The association plays an important role in promoting cultural activities while providing a platform for artists.
A few months ago, the organization successfully held an exhibition of renowned Karachi-based calligrapher and painter Naushad ur Rehman at Nishtar Hall Peshawar, promoting interprovincial cultural ties and introducing artists from other provinces.
Continuing this initiative, the association is organizing another art exhibition on March 30 and 31 at Nishtar Hall Peshawar, where artworks by prominent artists Naveed Shabbir and Khola Ayaz will be displayed. Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi will attend as the chief guest, while Director General Culture and Tourism Authority Usman Mehsud is expected to participate as the guest of honor.
