ISLAMABAD – Assistant Director Shahid Ilyas Khan, described by his supporters as one of the most competent, honest and dedicated officers in the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), is allegedly facing repeated professional setbacks despite his commitment to duty and refusal to compromise on his principles. According to people supporting Shahid Ilyas, his promotions to the next grade have been delayed on several occasions, false cases have allegedly been registered against him, and he has been transferred to different parts of the country in what they describe as punitive measures. Despite these difficulties, his supporters claim that he has continued to perform his duties without yielding to pressure or engaging in dishonest practices. They also point to his modest lifestyle, claiming that Shahid Ilyas continues to live in his parents’ home despite serving in an Agency where allegations of corruption and misuse of authority have repeatedly attracted public attention. A major turning point in Shahid’s career reportedly came when he was assigned an inquiry involving NAB Additional Director Ziaullah Toru. According to the account provided by his supporters, Shahid Ilyas completed the investigation and arrested Zia ullah Toru in connection with allegations of forgery and corruption. Shahid Ilyas was subsequently transferred to FIA Headquarters in Islamabad, a move that his supporters believe deserves closer examination. His supporters further allege that certain elements within the FIA are attempting to involve him in unnecessary inquiries and controversial matters to keep him under pressure. They claim that Shahid Ilyas approached the FIA Director General and several influential personalities to seek relief, but his complaints did not produce the desired results. Shahid ilyas reportedly considers Field Marshal Asim Munir his role model. His supporters are now appealing to Field Marshal Asim Munir, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to intervene, review his service record, address his grievances and consider his promotion on merit. Media representatives and members of public and social circles have also called for Shahid Ilyas to be given a fair opportunity to serve in a suitable position where his investigative experience and professional abilities can benefit the public. Supporters insist that an officer who has spent years serving the institution should not be left struggling to secure fair treatment within the same organisation. They want his promotion, transfer history and allegations of victimisation to be examined impartially. At the heart of the matter is a simple demand: Shahid Ilyas Khan should receive fair treatment, a transparent review of his professional record and an opportunity to advance in his career on merit.
