ISLAMABAD: Muhammad Humayun Khan expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic incident, stating that the Pakistan Peoples Party stands in complete solidarity with the grieving families in their pain and sorrow. He expressed heartfelt sympathy and said the incident is extremely tragic.

Humayun Khan held the administration responsible, stating that this tragedy occurred due to administrative failure. He added that in the past 13 years, the incompetent PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has done nothing beyond making empty promises. He stressed that the PTI government must take necessary steps to ensure the safety of the public.

He said the incident of several tourists drowning in the Swat River due to a strong water current is heartbreaking, and that proper safety measures should have been ensured along the riverbanks during heavy rains.

Humayun Khan highlighted the shocking loss of 15 members from a single family in the floodwaters, noting that the affected family cried out for help for hours, yet rescue teams failed to arrive on time. He declared that this was not just an accident, but clear evidence of state negligence and administrative failure.

He further added that the lack of a safety system in tourist areas exposes the complete incompetence of the PTI government over the past 13 years. The recurrence of such incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa each year proves that the current government has not learned any lessons.

He emphasized that protecting the lives and property of tourists is the state’s foremost responsibility, which continues to be ignored. Natural disasters cannot be prevented, but timely relief and preventive measures can certainly save precious lives. Unfortunately, the government is limited to issuing statements after tragedies, while practical steps remain nowhere to be seen.
