Dera Ismail Khan: Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, visited Ijaz Shaheed Police Line Dera to express condolences and solidarity with the families of police personnel martyred in the tragic incident in Panyala.
Speaking to the media, the IGP stated that the primary purpose of his visit was to assure the bereaved families that they would never be left alone and that all possible facilities and benefits under the Shuhada Package would be extended to them. He paid tribute to the courage and professionalism of the martyred personnel, who, during a search operation based on credible intelligence, engaged terrorists in an encounter. In the exchange of fire, four terrorists were neutralized.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Dera Syed Ashfaq Anwar and District Police Officer (DPO) Dera Sajjad Ahmed Sahibzada were also present on the occasion.
The IGP emphasized that the police force continues to confront security threats with unwavering resolve. He highlighted that over the past year, bulletproof vehicles have been provided across the province, and the overall security architecture is being strengthened through modernization and integration of advanced technology in counterterrorism operations.
He further stated that all security forces are working in close coordination to restore and maintain durable peace. Referring to the government’s policy on illegal immigrants, he noted that approximately 1.5 million Afghan nationals have been repatriated so far, reiterating that no illegal individual would be permitted to stay in Pakistan.
IGP Zulfiqar Hameed also informed that construction work on 14 police station buildings in Dera Ismail Khan is underway, while development and upgradation of police infrastructure in merged districts is progressing rapidly. Provision of armored personnel carriers (APCs) and bulletproof vehicles is being ensured in districts facing higher threat levels.
He stressed the importance of police-public cooperation in eliminating terrorism and reaffirmed the force’s commitment to countering extremist elements and establishing lasting peace in the province.
