Political Leaders, Elders, and Security Officials Vow United Effort Against Terrorism

PESHAWAR: A high-level Ilamia Jirga was convened today at the Civil Secretariat, Peshawar, to deliberate on the deteriorating security situation in Bajaur District.

The jirga brought together senior officials of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government, Police and Security Forces, political leadership from Bajaur, along with respected elders and Ulema to discuss the recent surge in terrorist incidents that have claimed several innocent lives over the past two months.

Among the notable martyrs remembered during the session were Maulana Khan Zeb Shaheed, Assistant Commissioner Navagai Faisal Ismail Shaheed, Tehsildar Abdul Wakil Shaheed, and several members of the security forces and police.

The gathering was a reflection of the long-standing tradition of mutual dialogue between the government and the people of Bajaur, reaffirming the commitment to resolving issues through unity and consultation.

Participants expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives and showed complete solidarity with the bereaved families, offering collective prayers for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks.

The jirga highlighted the invaluable sacrifices made by the people of Bajaur for peace and emphasized that strengthening ties between the public, government, and law enforcement agencies is crucial at this critical juncture.

Senior officials, including the Acting Chief Secretary and the Inspector General of Police, assured participants that restoring peace and security in Bajaur is the top priority of the provincial government. They reiterated that full efforts are underway to dismantle terrorist networks through coordination, mutual trust, and targeted intelligence-based operations.

The officials also announced the formation of a coordination committee, comprising government representatives, law enforcement officials, and community leaders. This committee will meet weekly to review security measures, plan future actions, and maintain public awareness.

It was also assured that demands raised by the jirga, including compensation for martyrs’ families and measures against extortion, would be seriously addressed at the highest levels of government.

The jirga concluded with a prayer of gratitude and a firm resolve to restore lasting peace and usher in a new era of prosperity in Bajaur.
