PESHAWAR: For the first time in the history of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, an international Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) championship will be held on Saturday, April 11, at Hayatabad Sports Complex. Fighters from across Pakistan, along with international participants, will take part in the event.

Speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday, renowned MMA promoter Ikram Gilani, who arrived from the United Kingdom, said that a total of 15 bouts will be held between fighters from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan, with each match lasting 20 minutes.

He added that, for the first time, female fighters will also participate in the event, making it a special highlight of the البطولة.

He further stated that the fighters’ weigh-in and face-off will take place on April 10 at Hayatabad Medical Complex, where the preparation of all athletes will be reviewed.

Ikram Gilani announced that no tickets will be charged for entry, and spectators will be offered free access along with VIP-style facilities. Separate seating arrangements have also been made for men and women.

He emphasized that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has immense talent but lacks proper opportunities. The aim of this event is to bring that talent to the forefront.

He also noted that through the platform of Infinite Championship, efforts will be made to take Pakistani fighters to the global stage, particularly to the UFC, so they can bring pride to the country.

He thanked the provincial government, administration, and the public for their support, adding that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is a peaceful region. He invited other sports organizers to hold events in the province.

In conclusion, he appealed to the people of Peshawar and across the province to attend the event, support the players, and contribute to the promotion of sports.
