PESHAWAR: Athletes of Islamia College University Peshawar brought pride to the nation by winning medals at international competitions Saad Shah who clinched a gold medal at the Karate Championship held in Uzbekistan and Hamdullah Khalil who secured silver and bronze medals at the Asian Junior Badminton Championship in Bhutan called on Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Ahmad-ur-Rehman Saljoqi upon their return to the university.
On the occasion Director Sports of Islamia College University Ali Hoti, Assistant Director Firdous Afridi and other faculty members were also present. The medal-winning athletes were warmly received and presented with honorary shields.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Ahmad-ur-Rehman Saljoqi expressed pride in the achievements of the students stating that Islamia College takes equal pride in academic as well as sports excellence. It is a matter of great honor that our students continue to prove their talent at both national and international levels,he said.
He added that Islamia College University has always given special attention to sports alongside education which is why the historic institution has produced many renowned names in the sporting world. The Vice Chancellor also announced special scholarships for the medal winners to encourage them to work harder and continue bringing glory to the country.
