RAWALPINDI: The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), media wing of the Pakistan Army, has stated that Pakistan will now take action against terrorists regardless of their location, asserting that no safe haven will be tolerated.
According to the ISPR, the interim Taliban administration in Afghanistan has failed to prevent Afghan soil from being used for terrorist activities against Pakistan. The statement added that evidence related to the recent attack on security forces in Bannu traced back to the Gul Bahadur Group operating from Afghan territory.
The ISPR said that Bannu was saved from a major tragedy due to the timely and professional response of the security forces. Terrorists had planned to target innocent civilians and officials in Bannu city, but their intentions were foiled through swift operational measures.
During the intelligence-based operation, security forces tracked down the Khawarij elements. A vehicle-borne suicide bomber was intercepted by the leading unit; however, in a desperate act, the attacker rammed his explosive-laden vehicle into a military vehicle.
As a result of the attack, Lieutenant Colonel Shahzada Gulfraz and Sepoy Karamat Shah embraced martyrdom. In the ensuing exchange, five Khawarij were killed by the security forces.
The ISPR reiterated that operations against terrorist elements will continue with full force to ensure the security and stability of the country.
