ISLAMABAD: H.E. Mr. Akamatsu Shuichi, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, presented a forward-looking roadmap for Japan-Pakistan relations during a media networking event at his residence on February 6, marking the 74th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

Ambassador Akamatsu emphasized the importance of people-to-people connections, economic collaboration, and cultural exchange. He highlighted three key pillars for future cooperation: expanding human exchange through youth programs and language initiatives, strengthening economic ties in AI and IT sectors, and promoting Japanese cuisine as a tool for cultural diplomacy.

The Ambassador also announced upcoming initiatives, including a Japan-Pakistan Business Seminar on February 10, building on successful collaborations such as AI seminars with NUST and the Pakistan Pavilion at Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025. He praised the warmth and cultural heritage of Pakistan, noting the significant trust and affection for Japan among its people.

The event included remarks from Prof. Dr. Yasar Ayaz, Chairman of the National Center for Artificial Intelligence (NCAI), who commended Japan’s contributions to education and technology partnerships, highlighting the positive impact of Japanese scholarships on Pakistan’s knowledge-based economy.

The gathering reinforced the shared commitment to deepen bilateral ties, transform longstanding friendship into dynamic collaboration, and foster sustainable growth across human, economic, and cultural dimensions.
