KHYBER: A grand jirga convened in Maidan on Saturday demanded sustainable peace and stability in Tirah Valley.
Large number of tribesmen of eight sub-tribes of Afridi from across the Valley and from different walks of life participated in the gathering.
Addressing on the occasion speakers’ highlighted various problems being faced by the dwellers of the Valley and presented a number of suggestions to improve law and order situation in Tirah.
They said that the purpose of holding the jirga was to ensure that people of Tirah were wise and well-mannered and were not ready furthermore to become fuel of an alien war.
The participants supported intelligence base forces operation and refused any displacement or translocation.
The locals no longer tolerate forcibly displacement, forces operations and killing of innocent people in Tirah Valley, they opined.
Consistently, an unfamiliar and unwanted war was imposed on them and they were subjected to unmatched sacrifices and sufferings they added and said they fed up with the insurgency and furthermore did not endorse, purge movement in the name of war against militancy in the area.
The tribesmen of Tirah had awakened for their rights and had decided that they would not stay silent over injustice to be done to them, they remarked.
They maintained that dwellers of Tirah Valley would raise a peaceful voice for their rights, identity, land and safety of their lives and would not give up their expression of right.
