The issue of Jammu and Kashmir remains at the heart of Pakistan’s foreign policy and international diplomatic efforts. As a longstanding dispute on the United Nations’ agenda, Pakistan has consistently championed the rights of the Kashmiri people on global platforms, emphasizing their right to self-determination in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.

Over the years, Pakistan has actively raised the Kashmir issue at forums such as the United Nations (UN), the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the European Union (EU), and various other multilateral and regional organizations. These efforts are rooted in Pakistan’s moral, political, and diplomatic responsibility toward the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), who have endured decades of repression, curfews, arbitrary arrests, and severe human rights violations.

At the United Nations General Assembly, Pakistan’s leadership regularly highlights the plight of Kashmiris and urges the international community to take notice of the grave situation in IIOJK, particularly following India’s unilateral and illegal revocation of Article 370 in August 2019. Pakistan has also submitted dossiers and reports containing evidence of human rights abuses committed by Indian security forces, calling upon the UN to appoint a special rapporteur to investigate these violations.

The OIC, representing the collective voice of the Muslim world, has shown continued support for the Kashmiri cause. Pakistan has played a vital role in ensuring that the OIC passes strong resolutions condemning Indian actions and expressing solidarity with the people of Kashmir. The OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir, with Pakistan as a key member, has remained active in voicing concern over the deteriorating human rights situation in the valley.

In the European Union, Pakistani diplomats and parliamentary delegations have consistently engaged with lawmakers, civil society, and human rights organizations. The aim is to draw attention to the ongoing military siege, demographic changes, and communication blackouts that continue to isolate Kashmiris from the rest of the world. Pakistan has urged EU institutions to take a principled stance in line with their commitment to human rights and international law.

Beyond these platforms, Pakistan continues to build global awareness through conferences, briefings, and international media engagement. The Foreign Office, along with Pakistani missions abroad, organizes regular events on Kashmir Solidarity Day, and mobilizes support from the diaspora to keep the issue alive in foreign capitals.

Pakistan remains steadfast in its resolve to raise the Kashmir issue forcefully, respectfully, and consistently at every relevant forum. Despite geopolitical challenges and India’s efforts to suppress international criticism, Pakistan’s principled stance is rooted in justice and humanity. Islamabad has made it clear: Kashmir is not an internal matter of India, but an internationally recognized dispute that requires a peaceful resolution through dialogue, diplomacy, and adherence to international law.

Until the legitimate aspirations of the Kashmiri people are realized, Pakistan will continue to be their voice on the world stage unwavering, unrelenting, and united in solidarity.
