SWABI: On the directives of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, an open court (khuli kacheri) was held at the Tehsil Complex in Topi under the chairmanship of Commissioner Mardan Division Nisar Ahmad and Deputy Commissioner Swabi Nasrullah Khan. The event was attended by Tehsil Chairman Rahim Khan Jadoon, Assistant Commissioner Topi, officers from various departments, and a large number of local elders.
During the session, citizens raised dozens of key issues, including a shortage of staff in government offices, encroachments on water channels, unsafe drinking water, malfunctioning solar street lights, irregularities in revenue records, criminal activities disguised as begging, improvement of the traffic system, encroachments in Topi Bazaar, prolonged power outages, and lack of compensation for agricultural losses.
The public demanded the appointment of computer operators in Patwar offices, immediate removal of encroachments from water channels, simplification and transparency in land transfer procedures, and urgent reconstruction of the Malik Abad causeway, which was washed away in the recent floods.
Residents of Gadoon appreciated the timely action of Assistant Commissioner Topi during the recent cloudburst and urged authorities to expedite rehabilitation efforts in flood-affected areas.
Addressing the gathering, Commissioner Mardan Nisar Ahmad stated that the purpose of the open court was to directly understand public grievances and ensure their immediate resolution. He assured the attendees that all issues raised would be taken seriously and addressed accordingly.
Deputy Commissioner Swabi Nasrullah Khan announced the deployment of new staff at the SDC Topi and affirmed that corruption and bribery in the revenue department would not be tolerated. He added that all available resources are being utilized for the rehabilitation of flood victims.
Officers from departments such as Public Health, Irrigation, Education, C&W, PKHA, and others assured the public that their complaints would be resolved promptly. The District Director of Agriculture informed that a report on crop damages due to recent flooding has been prepared and the provincial government will provide compensation.
Commissioner Mardan instructed relevant authorities to immediately initiate action for the removal of encroachments from water channels.
