Staff Report
PESHAWAR:Barrister Dr. Saif, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information and Public Relations has stated that Kisan Ittihad has exposed the false claims of the fake federal government, particularly in Punjab, regarding agricultural development. He said that in the past year, wheat farmers alone have suffered a loss of Rs 2,200 billion.
Dr. Saif highlighted that the form 47 government’s anti-farmer policies have led to a significant decline in agricultural production, with wheat production decreasing by 8.91%, cotton by 34%, and maize by 15.4%. He emphasized that the food import bill for the first ten months of the current fiscal year has reached $7 billion, which is alarming for the national economy.
The Advisor said that agriculture was the backbone of the national economy, but the fake government was crushing this backbone while making false claims of development. He pointed out that anti-farmer elements were still occupying key positions in the federal and Punjab governments, and the Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, was not paying attention to the plight of farmers.
Dr. Saif praised the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, for purchasing wheat from Punjab farmers last year, which helped mitigate the crisis. He criticized Maryam Nawaz for her Tik Toker antics while pursuing anti-farmer policies, which will have severe consequences for the entire country.
The Advisor demanded that the Tik Toker Chief Minister stop making false claims and provide genuine relief to farmers, emphasizing that weakening farmers was equivalent to weakening the country. He also highlighted the role of a mafia in importing substandard wheat from Ukraine, causing huge losses to local farmers, and urged the government to take action against such elements.
