PESHAWAR:
Khyber Medical University (KMU) has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to cultivating a safe, respectful, and accountable academic environment by taking prompt and firm action in response to a recent case of harassment.
Chronology of Actions Taken:
1. 18th May 2025 – The Vice Chancellor of KMU received a formal complaint via email regarding a harassment incident reported from an examination hall.
2. 19th–23rd May 2025 – A dedicated inquiry committee was immediately constituted to investigate the matter. The committee conducted a thorough and transparent inquiry, ensuring due process and providing all parties with a fair opportunity to present their accounts and supporting evidence.
3. 26th May 2025 – Following the committee’s findings, KMU took the following disciplinary actions:
• A Grade-18 officer, with nearly 17 years of service, was terminated from his position.
• The student involved, Dr. Muhammad Ali, was permanently expelled from the university and barred from any future enrollment at KMU.
Over the last two years, KMU has consistently upheld its zero-tolerance policy against harassment, taking strict action—ranging from major to minor penalties—against perpetrators. The university remains resolute in its mission to provide a safe and dignified space for all students, faculty, and staff.
