PESHAWAR:The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety & Halal Food Authority (KPFS&HFA) has released a detailed report on a major pre-Eid ul Adha campaign, outlining its province wide operations against counterfeit and hazardous beverages. According to the report, a total of 129 production units, wholesalers, and distributors were raided across various divisions of the province.
The Authority’s spokesperson stated that during these operations, more than 115,000 litres of substandard, fake, and health-endangering beverages were seized, a significant portion of which was disposed of on-site. In addition, five units were sealed for direct involvement in the production and distribution of fake beverages, while 22 others were served improvement notices for failing to meet hygiene and safety standards.


The report further revealed that out of the total volume, 64,471 litres were confiscated in Peshawar Division, followed by 34,127 litres in Mardan, 10,330 litres in Hazara, 3,983 litres in Bannu, 1,416 litres in Kohat, 992 litres in Malakand, and 100 litres in Dera Ismail Khan Division. In total, fines exceeding Rs. 1.1 million were levied on violators under relevant provisions of the KP Food Safety Act.
Director General KPFS&HFA, Wasif Saeed lauded the efforts of the field teams and reiterated that the authority is committed to taking uncompromising action against all those playing with public health. “The production and sale of hazardous beverages will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” he emphasized.
KP Minister for Food Zahir Shah Toru also praised the crackdown, stating that ensuring public health and safety remains a top priority of the provincial government. “Every possible resource is being utilized to ensure the availability of safe and quality food for the people,” he added.
