ISLAMABAD: Chairperson of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), Anbreen Jan, met with Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi at the Governor House, Islamabad.
The meeting focused on mutual interests, media responsibilities, and the current national situation. The Governor appreciated PEMRA’s role and commended the authority’s performance.
Governor Kundi highlighted that in the present circumstances, PEMRA’s responsibilities have increased and emphasized the importance of its active role in promoting responsible journalism. He stressed that the media must provide accurate and timely information to positively guide society.
The discussions also covered the prompt reopening of the PEMRA office established in 2008 in Dera Ismail Khan. Both sides agreed that this step would improve local media regulation and facilities.
Chairperson Anbreen Jan briefed the Governor on PEMRA’s ongoing initiatives, and the Governor expressed confidence that under her leadership, the authority will achieve even greater performance.
