Ramazan Support Program Providing Rs12,500 to Over One Million Families

PESHAWAR: An online Khuli Kachehri of the Information and Public Relations Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was held under the chairmanship of the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations, Shafi Jan. Journalists, social media representatives, and other relevant stakeholders participated online and presented their issues and suggestions.
Responding to questions during the session, Shafi Jan stated that practical steps are being taken to clear the pending payments of social media influencers, adding that the release of funds has been processed.
He said the Information Department is actively working to clear the outstanding advertisement dues of newspapers, and the issue will be resolved soon. He added that radio stations have already been established in ten districts of the province, and steps are underway to enhance their operational capacity. Practical measures are also being taken to establish radio stations in more districts.
According to him, the expansion of radio stations will help deliver government policies and initiatives to the public more effectively.
Shafi Jan further said that the system for the distribution of advertisements to newspapers is being fully digitized, and system has been inplaced to ensure fair and transparent distribution of advertisements under the current circumstances. He added that newspapers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are being given priority in the advertisement distribution process.
He also announced that a Press Clubs Act and related rules are being introduced, which will help reduce internal disputes within press clubs. Committees have also been established to resolve conflicts in various press clubs, and timely grants to press clubs are being ensured.
The Special Assistant stated that an Endowment Fund has been established for the welfare of journalists, through which measures are being taken to support them. He also noted that rules and regulations are being introduced to curb the spread of fake news.
Shafi Jan said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, elected through the mandate of the people, is committed to addressing public issues with seriousness. He added that under the Ramazan Support Program, deserving families are being provided Rs. 12,500 to offer relief during the holy month of Ramazan. The program will benefit more than one million families, and the distribution process is already underway, with over 200,000 families having received the assistance so far.
He further stated that in light of the recent increase in petroleum prices, relief will also be provided to motorcycle users in the form of Rs. 2,200 cash assistance, while a separate relief package for farmers will also be announced.
Shafi Jan added that billions of funds have been allocated for the development of Peshawar, while a modern hospital with a capacity of 5,000 beds will also be constructed in the city.
He concluded by saying that the Information Department serves as the face of the government, playing a key role in keeping the public informed about government policies and initiatives in a timely manner.
