PESHAWAR: Dr. Shafqat Ayaz, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Science and Information Technology, has stated that empowering the women of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through digital skills is one of the top priorities of the provincial government, in line with the vision of Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan and Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. Equipping women with technological, entrepreneurial, and digital capabilities is a crucial step toward building a progressive, modern, and self-reliant Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Dr. Shafqat Ayaz was addressing a special event titled “KP Upskill: Digital and Entrepreneurial Skills for Women” at the Institute of Management Sciences (IM Sciences) Peshawar. On the occasion, he highlighted that the KP Government is taking concrete steps to integrate women into the digital revolution. Through the Department of Science & Technology and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB), the government is initiating comprehensive programs to train women, foster their entrepreneurial thinking, and connect them to the modern digital economy.
He added that exclusive training programs are being launched for women across the province to enable them to acquire skills in IT and digital business and earn respectable livelihoods. These initiatives are not only essential for individual empowerment but also vital for the collective socio-economic development of the region. By promoting digital entrepreneurship, women will be made financially self-reliant and will be empowered to launch their own businesses.
Dr. Ayaz further stated that these initiatives are laying the foundation for a forward-looking and tech-driven Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where women can thrive and excel in every domain.
He also announced that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will soon be signed between the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government and IM Sciences, under which joint efforts will be made to enhance digital skills among women and promote their independence through practical and targeted skill development.
