PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has witnessed 5 suicide bombings and 756 terrorism-related cases in the first six months of 2025, according to a semi-annual report released by the Central Police Office (CPO) on Wednesday.
The report said a troubling security situation across the province, with a rise in militant activities including kidnappings, extortion, and bombings.
The figures highlight that 5 suicide attacks have been reported so far this year, while 756 terrorism cases registered in various police stations.
Moreover, 94 extortion cases, 41 incidents of target killings and 38 cases of kidnapping have been documented.
Furthermore, the report said that 80 IED (improvised explosive device) attacks, 12 missile strikes and 35 hand grenade attacks were carried out by militants.
Likewise, it said 269 incidents of gunfire targeting police and officials were also reported. Besides, 44 cases were registered against individuals allegedly facilitating terrorists and13 cases related to terrorist financing were also lodged.
The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) recorded 750 cases this year and is actively investigating 561 cases related to terrorism.
The CPO report underscores growing security challenges in the region, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced counter-terrorism strategies and intelligence operations to curb the rising threat.
