The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety & Halal Food Authority(KPFS&HA) has carried out a major operation in Haripur’s renowned tourist spot, Makhnial, yesterday. During inspections of several well-known hotels, the Authority uncovered serious violations of food safety regulations.
While detailing, Spokesperson of the authorityt told that the Haripur Food Safety Team conducted detailed inspections and discovered expired samosa rolls at one hotel. Additionally, the hotel was found using newspaper for food wrapping and employing staff without mandatory medical certificates. Heavy fines were imposed in response.
In a separate inspection, another major hotel was found storing expired bread, buns, meat, juices, and syrups. The kitchen was infested with insects, prompting the Food Safety Team to immediately seal the premises due to severe hygiene violations.
The spokesperson stated that the primary objective of these operations is to ensure food quality at tourist destinations and to provide safe and healthy food to the public. He emphasized that violations of food safety principles will not be tolerated and that further inspections are underway.
Director General KPFS&HA Wasif Saeed appreciated the performance of the inspection team. He reiterated that constant monitoring of hotels at tourist sites is being carried out to guarantee the provision of safe and quality food to both tourists and locals.
KP Minister for Food Zahir Shah Toru stated that the provision of safe and quality food to tourists and local communities remains a top priority of the government. He added that all available resources are being utilized to achieve this goal.
