BAJAUR: In a tragic incident in Mamund Tehsil of Bajaur district, another police constable was martyred after unidentified assailants opened fire on him. This marks the second targeted killing of a police official in the region within just two weeks, deepening the atmosphere of fear and concern among residents.
According to official details, the incident occurred at the gate of Wara Mamund Police Station in the Umray area. While on duty, Constable Badshah, son of Zahir Shah and resident of Ghakhi Loi Mamund, was fatally shot by unknown attackers who managed to escape the scene. Following the attack, a search operation was launched in the surrounding area to track down the culprits.
The funeral prayer of the martyred constable was offered with full state honors at the Police Lines in Civil Colony, Khar. The solemn ceremony was attended by Commandant Bajaur Scouts Brigadier Saad Mehmood, District Police Officer Waqas Rafiq, Deputy Commissioner Shahid Ali Khan, SP Investigation Naveed Iqbal, senior police and civil officials, tribal elders, and a large number of members from the local community.
A smartly turned-out police contingent presented a guard of honor to the fallen officer. Senior officials laid floral wreaths on the martyr’s coffin and offered collective prayers for the elevation of his rank in the hereafter. Later, the body was escorted by a police special squad to his native village, where he was laid to rest with full official protocol.
Police authorities have strongly condemned the attack and vowed that the sacrifice of the martyred officer will not go in vain. They reiterated their commitment to continue combating terrorism and unrest, assuring that the perpetrators will soon be brought to justice.
