SHABIR JAN
SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Former MPA and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) leader Mahmood Ahmad Khan Betani has alleged that during the rule of the Insaf government, corruption, embezzlement, and nepotism in District Tank have reached alarming levels. He said that the elected representatives came to power not to serve the people or develop Tank, but to fill their own pockets.
He revealed that ₨50 million allocated under the Soil Conservation Department for small dams and protection walls exist only on paper, and no practical work has been carried out on the ground. According to him, the funds were withdrawn under fake names of relatives of the elected representatives and embezzled.
He said, “Show me even a single small dam or protection wall built in the last two years — everything is just paperwork.” He urged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers to look at the facts instead of emotions and question their representatives about where these projects actually exist. He added that under the Insaf government, the slogan of development was used as a cover while the people of Tank received nothing in reality. Betani called on NAB, Anti-Corruption Establishment, and other investigative institutions to visit District Tank, conduct transparent inquiries, and take strict action against the officials and representatives involved in this large-scale corruption.
In conclusion, Mahmood Ahmad Khan Betni warned that if this corruption continues, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam will soon launch a full-scale public movement in District Tank to expose and hold accountable all those supporting and benefiting from this corruption.
