ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan, and States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON), as well as President of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Engineer Amir Muqam, distributed financial grant cheques among representatives of various press clubs from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, facilitated by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The cheque distribution ceremony was held at the Federal Minister’s chamber in the Parliament House, where Engineer Amir Muqam handed over the financial assistance cheques to officials of press clubs from Peshawar, Mardan, Shangla, Tank, Bannu, and Jamrud. The purpose of this event was to appreciate the services of local journalists and to encourage efforts aimed at strengthening regional media institutions. On this occasion, Federal Minister Engineer Amir Muqam highlighted the key role of journalism in promoting democracy and transparency. He stated: “Media has always been a strong pillar in upholding democratic values. This support is being provided in recognition of the sacrifices and services of journalists.” He further emphasized that the government is committed to empowering press clubs, particularly in remote and underdeveloped areas, as a well-informed society and national development require a free and robust media.
