Mardan:
Commissioner Mardan Division, Nisar Ahmad had said that public welfare and the sustainable development of the province are the cornerstone of the government’s development policy. He revealed that in the upcoming fiscal year’s Annual Development Programme (ADP), mega projects worth billions of rupees have been proposed for the districts of Mardan and Swabi, based on consultations with public representatives. These projects are expected to set the Mardan Division on the path to progress.
He was addressing a high-level meeting held in the conference room of the Commissioner’s Office to review the current fiscal year’s ADP and discuss proposed schemes for the next fiscal year. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Mardan Dr. Azmatullah Wazir, Additional Deputy Commissioners (Finance and Planning) of Mardan and Swabi, officers from all provincial and federal departments, and representatives of parliamentarians.
Commissioner Nisar Ahmad directed officers of the line departments to ensure, without exception, the completion of ongoing development projects by June 30, in line with the instructions of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He noted that the Chief Minister has already instructed the Finance Department to release the remaining funds for ongoing projects.
He further stated that several mega projects have been proposed for the next fiscal year in sectors such as education, health, communication and Works, Irrigation, drinking water, sports, small dams, and urban development. The approval of these projects will open new avenues of growth for the region and improve the standard of living for its people.
He particularly emphasized the swift completion of priority blocks of the Girls Cadet College Mardan, so that academic sessions can commence in the new building by September. He stressed that development funds are a public trust and that there will be no compromise on the quality of development work.
