MOHMAND: World Environment Day was commemorated at the construction site of the Mohmand Dam Hydropower Project through a ceremony and awareness campaign held under the directives of General Manager & Project Director Fasihullah Paracha. The event was attended by senior officials, engineers, environmental specialists, and staff from WAPDA, Mohmand Dam Consultant Group, China Gezhouba Group Company (CGGC), and Descon Engineering Limited.

Participants were briefed on the Project’s significance in climate change mitigation, water resource management, and provision of clean and affordable energy. A plantation drive was also conducted, with a renewed commitment to strict adherence to environmental and social safeguard SOPs during construction activities.

Speaking on the occasion, WAPDA Director Social Resettlement and Environment emphasized the importance of joint efforts and nature-based solutions to address global warming and ensure long-term environmental sustainability.

It is noteworthy that 800MW Mohmand Dam Hydropower Project is a major clean energy initiative expected to strengthen the national grid, restore the ecosystem, maintain groundwater levels, and reduce flood risks.
