PESHAWAR: The annual month-long Sports Gala organized by New Islamia High School and College Peshawar concluded with a colorful and vibrant closing ceremony at the institution’s main campus. The event was aimed at promoting sportsmanship, physical fitness, discipline, and positive engagement among students.
More than 450 students actively participated in various competitions, including cricket, badminton, basketball, volleyball, and table tennis, showcasing remarkable talent, teamwork, and dedication throughout the gala.
The closing ceremony was attended by a large number of students, teachers, parents, and distinguished guests. Former Provincial Minister Kamran Bangash graced the occasion as the chief guest. CEO Iftikhar Liaquat Ali, Administrator Muhammad Amjad, Academic Incharge Waheed, faculty members, and other dignitaries were also present.
Exciting contests were witnessed in different sports categories, with teams such as Islamia Markhor, Warrior, and Champion securing prominent positions in cricket, volleyball, and basketball. The chief guest distributed trophies, medals, and cash prizes among the winning teams and outstanding players.
Addressing the ceremony, Kamran Bangash praised the school administration for successfully organizing the Sports Gala. He emphasized that sports provide positive direction to youth and are essential for building a healthy society. He highlighted the importance of co-curricular activities alongside academics to foster leadership, discipline, and social awareness among students. He further remarked that victory and defeat are part of the game, and true success lies in honesty, hard work, and fair play.
CEO Iftikhar Liaquat Ali termed the gala’s success a result of collective efforts and coordinated planning. He reiterated that the institution places equal emphasis on academic and co-curricular activities to ensure the holistic development of students. Administrator Muhammad Amjad and Academic Incharge Waheed also underscored that such activities are a permanent feature of the academic calendar and play a vital role in boosting students’ confidence and personality development.
Students expressed their appreciation for being part of an institution that provides opportunities not only for quality education but also for sports and creative activities. They hoped that similar events would continue in the future to help them prepare for district, provincial, and national-level competitions.
