Karachi: For the first time in Pakistani history, the Ramadan Night National Tennis Tournament has begun under the auspices of the Pakistan Tennis Federation and in collaboration with the Naya Nazimabad Foundation.

The event, which began under the light of electric lights at the Naya Nazimabad Gymkhana, was officially inaugurated by the special guest, Chief Executive Officer Naya Nazimabad Samad Habib, by hitting the ball. On this occasion, President Pakistan Tennis Federation Aisam-ul-Haq, President Naya Nazimabad Gymkhana Syed Muhammad Talha, Senior Manager Sports Muhammad Asif, Tournament Director Khalid Rahmani, Manager Altaf Hussain, District Sports Officer Hajra Nawab and a large number of spectators and players were also present.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Samad Habib said that after the cricket and football tournaments, the new Nazim is also hosting the Tennis Ramadan Night Tournament. He said that he will continue to patronize sports for the promotion of a healthy society. He further said that he hopes that organizing such events will bring out new talent.

Tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq said that this is a great event that will last for a week in Ramadan. The people of Karachi should come and watch the great matches of this great tournament.

Syed Muhammad Talha said that the total prize money of the event has been set at Rs. 2.05 million and he hopes that players from all over the country will enjoy this event. On the first day of the event, four matches of the men’s singles were decided. All four matches were one-sided. Barkatullah defeated Haziq Arejo by a score of 6-1 and 6-1. Kashan Tariq defeated Salman Tahir by a score of 6-4 and 6-1. Mudassar Mirza won against Mutahir Muhammad by a score of 6-1 and 6-2. Hamza Roman won against Nadir Bachni by a score of 6-2 and 6-1.
