PESHAWAR: A scholarship distribution ceremony for students of the Institute of Petroleum Technology (IPT) Karak was held at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Energy and Power Department, with Provincial Minister Nazeer Ahmad Abbasi as chief guest.

Secretary Energy and Power Nisar Ahmad presented scholarship cheques worth Rs54 million to Project Director Mohsin ul Mulk for distribution among 85 students for the academic year 2025-26.

The minister also awarded cheques to six top position holders of the DAE Drilling and Drilling Fluids Technology annual examination 2025. He said the provincial government was focusing on technical education and skills development to provide better employment opportunities to youth.

Secretary Nisar Ahmad directed officials to arrange field internships and study visits for IPT students with oil and gas exploration companies, while KPOGCL was asked to provide paid internships to graduates on a priority basis.

The minister assured that the issue of funds for construction of IPT’s own building on 250 kanals would be taken up with the concerned authorities.
