SHANGLA: A tragic jeep accident occurred on the Alpuri–Larei link road, approximately three kilometers from Alpuri, the district headquarters of Shangla, resulting in one fatality and four injuries.
According to details, a non-custom paid jeep carrying passengers was on its way from Alpuri to Larei when the incident occurred. The road is unpaved and extremely hazardous. During the journey, the vehicle’s brakes reportedly failed, causing the jeep to roll backward and plunge into a deep ravine. The vehicle was severely damaged after the fall.
Local residents rushed to the scene immediately and, on a self-help basis, retrieved the injured persons and the body from the ravine. Rescue 1122 teams also arrived promptly, provided first aid, and shifted the injured to the District Headquarters Hospital, Alpuri.
Hospital sources confirmed that one person, identified as Rozi Rehman, died on the spot. Three injured persons including the driver Umar Gul and two women were stated to be in critical condition and were referred to Saidu Sharif Hospital, Mingora (Swat) for further treatment. The body of the deceased was handed over to the heirs after completion of legal formalities.
Following the incident, an atmosphere of grief prevails in the area. Local residents have strongly demanded immediate safety measures & improvement of dilapidated and unsafe roads to prevent such tragic accidents in the future.
