Completion to be proved as economic, industrial development in province: SACM on Energy
Special Assistant for Energy Engr. Tariq Sadozai has said that timely completion of ongoing energy projects in the province a top priority of the provincial government, for which the government is utilizing all resources along with timely provision of funds. The completion of energy projects will create new employment opportunities along with economic development in the coming days and will usher in an era of industrial development in the province.
He expressed these views during a site visit to ongoing 36 MW Daral Khwar Hydropower Project in Bahrain Swat and the 84 MW Gorkan Matiltan HPP Swat. The Resident Engineer and other concerned officials were also present on the occasion. The Special Assistant to Chief Minister was given a detailed briefing by the concerned officers regarding the energy production and revenue generated from the Daral Khwar Hydropower Plant, major achievements, damages caused by the 2022 floods and restoration efforts so far, current and future planning, shortage of staff and other challenges faced.
On this occasion, the Special Assistant appreciated the overall efforts of the team working at the Daral Khwar Hydropower Plant and assured of taking all possible steps to resolve the challenges faced. He issued instructions to ensure uninterrupted supply of energy from the power plant and stressed on the presence of adequate stock of spare parts in the complex so that the energy production and income are not affected due to unavailability of spare parts.
Meanwhile, Engineer Tariq Saduzai also visited the site of the 84 MW Gorkan Matiltan Hydropower Project. On this occasion, the project director of the project gave a detailed briefing to the Special Assistant regarding the ongoing work on the hydropower project. Tariq Sadozai expressed satisfaction with the ongoing work on the project and emphasized the importance of meeting the Commercial Operation Date (COD) of June 2026.
Furthermore, he directed the concerned authorities to further expedite the work on the project and assured them of all possible cooperation to resolve the problems faced in the project. Special Assistant Engineer Tariq Sadozai was also briefed about the construction of 132/220 KV transmission line.
During visit, Special Assistant was informed that there is continuous communication with the local administration regarding the right-of-way clearance for the tower locations, due to which work is ongoing at various tower locations. At this point Sadozai assured his full support to ensure timely completion of the project.
